Research

For the research of this project I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. The primary user group I was designing for was animal owners of all different backgrounds.
Research revealed that people would rather call in to schedule their appointment rather than deal with competitors online or mobile appointment makers. Other User problems that users dealt with when using the competitors websites included uncertainty, non updated systems, or bad design which made it hard for user to be able to schedule appointments fast and easy.

“I would rather just call the vet cause i get confused every time i try to use one of those online appointment makers.”

— User interview participant

“The ladies at the vet know me but it takes 30 minutes to find my pets registering like there has to be an easier way to look up my pet.”

— User interview participant

 Meet the users

  • Shane

Shane is a full time nurse that lives with her two dogs. Shane would like a easier way to check in her dogs while visiting her local veterinarian. Her dogs have alot of medical issues and it is a hassle to fill out registration forms everytime going in.

  • Greg

Greg works for the city council and has a family with his wife and two kids. He needs a way to easily and efficiently schedule his dogs appointments ahead of time due to his dogs not being able to wait in lines and stores due to their anxiety levels.

The Journey

we constructed a user flow of what a basic start to finish flow of scheduling an appointment might look like through our responsive website. this will help us better understand ways users can interact with the services offered, as well as letting us see how effective one navigates through our site.
